Artist's Description
In this piece of art, John wanted to show the fall of man and woman from grace in the garden of Eden. It all starts in the lower right hand corner with Eve handing the bitten apple to Adam. The man and woman faces represent all of humanity and the tunnels show that we are all connected. The tree in the center is the tree of life, with the leaves dripping water (life) and the tree frogs (death). Notice how the snakes interweave with the woman's hair and the one snake is whispering deceit in her ear. The birds are fleeting thoughts and the eye between the hands is God behind the scenes. The rays of sunshine (on the left) point the way to Calvary and essentially hope, since the cross is the only way to salvation.
This is John's largest drawing to date at 24" x 18" and took over 350 hours to complete.
About John Wiegand

My name is John Wiegand and I am a Fine Artist who specializes in meticulous colored pencil drawings. I got my start in high school with my first colored pencil drawing named, The Bunk, which was entered in the Kiski Valley Artists Guild in 1982 and won a 2nd place ribbon from that show. Since then, I have honed my craft and my work is very unique and full of vibrant colors. My drawings take up to 200 hours to complete. I use Prismacolor Colored Pencils to draw with because the lead is soft and the colors are intense. The colors are so striking that people often think I used pastels in my work. All of the drawings submitted here are finished works. One of my favorites involves the Zebra, Rhino, Giraffe and Hippos. Together, when...
